Planning & Development in Bunwell
Earlier this year Bunwell Parish Council established the Bunwell Planning Development Group comprising four lay volunteers and four parish councillors. The group is preparing recommendations for the Parish Council’s response to The Greater Norwich Local Plan (GNLP).
The GNLP is being jointly produced by South Norfolk, Broadland District and Norwich City Councils in partnership with Norfolk County Council. The GNLP "aim[s] to produce a plan which will help to meet local housing and economic growth needs, whilst also protecting and enhancing the environment" for the period 2026 to 2038.
The group is working on a suggested parish council response to the GNLP with the aim of ensuring that:
1. Long-term planning and development in Bunwell meets the village’s future housing needs.
2. Bunwell assimilates the housing allocation deemed necessary under the GNLP.
3. Future development is in-keeping and sympathetic to Bunwell’s character.
4. Bunwell develops in the way most villagers want to see the village develop.
The group is Chaired by Cllr Bob Smith. Despite the foundation of the group coinciding with the COVID pandemic, members have kept in touch online and attended a virtual meeting of a South Norfolk Council (SNC) planning committee. Recently group members walked the village to look at the sites put forward for development in the GNLP, a map of which can be found by following this link.
