New Affordable Homes in Bunwell

The below has been received from South Norfolk Council:

I am writing to inform Bunwell Parish Council about the affordable homes being built by Saffron Housing Trust at Smockmill Close, Bunwell.  The development comprises 8 homes, 6 for rent and 2 for shared ownership.  Completion is expected in July, but I am  writing now so that the Parish Council  will have plenty of time to make local people aware of their availability.

All the homes were built to meet local need, and they have a local connection cascade which sets out the priority order of eligibility:

Potholes and Ice in and around Bunwell - Beware

During the past week we have seen some concerning road incidents involving residents of Bunwell and I have written to Norfolk County Council highlighting the locations in the hope they can assist us.

The first was an exceptionally large pothole on the Wattlefield Road, just after Potters Lane when going to Wymondham. It is large and deep (circa 4 inches) and a number of us have wrecked wheels and tyres as a result. When flooded, it’s covered. It has been reported to Highways as urgent and while it hadn’t been sorted yesterday I’m hoping it will be very quickly.

The other concern is the sharp ‘S’ bend at the end of Mile Road as you leave Bunwell driving to Attleborough/Wymondham. On Monday morning it was very icy and a Bunwell resident lost control and crashed the car. We have seen this before at this sharp bend and have requested NCC to include this section of road on the gritting route although such requests must follow a process.

Therefore, please be very careful during your travels if of course the journey is essential.

Fish and Chip Van

Unfortunately due to the increased Coronavirus risks the Chip Van will no longer be visiting Bunwell Village Hall. Hopefully this will resume in a few weeks time once the situation improves but watch this space for more information.

Father Christmas visit!

On Sunday 20th December between 4.30pm and 6.30pm please listen out for a very special visitor. Although he is very busy at the moment, we have asked Father Christmas to visit Bunwell and Carleton Rode so that he can make sure he has the correct addresses for all local children (in a GDPR and Covid secure way, of course!)

Father Christmas would love it if you could look out through your windows and doors and come out and give him a wave as he and his helpers pass by. Below is a map of the route that he will take (click on image to enlarge):
