Bunwell & District Camera Club held its end of year Annual General Meeting at Peter Beales Roses on 7th June 2011. The event was attended by the majority of club members who enjoyed a buffet style dinner followed by a guided tour of the gardens.
The AGM saw the retirement of club Secretary Sue Blackett and the Committee expresses its gratitude for her contribution to the club. A reshuffle of the remaining Committee sees current Chairperson Dianne Gibson taking over the role of Secretary and Graham Kingsland step up to become Chairperson.
The club runs 6 themed competitions over the course of the year, with the person achieving the highest overall score taking the coveted Photographer of the Year award. This year’s winner is Colin Guthrie, pictured accepting his award from Sue Blackett.
A further award is presented for the Photograph of the Year. This image is chosen from the highest scoring entries from all 6 competitions and this year’s winner is Les Bailey with his photograph entitled ‘An Officer and a Gentleman’.
Following the club’s recent annual exhibition the members agreed to donate a sum of £100 from the proceeds to a local charity, and a majority vote taken on the night determined that this should go to the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
The Committee announced its programme for the forthcoming year which includes several high profile speakers including renowned landscape photographer Tom Mackie. The club offers an extensive programme which, as well as speakers, includes members’ evenings, practical sessions and social events. The past year has seen the successful introduction of midweek photoshoots for those with a little more time on their hands and it is hoped to expand the programme even further this year with some weekend workshops in subjects such as learning the basics and image processing.
