Dropzone newsletter – Dec 2013

As most of you are aware Lee and I want to cut down our involvement in running Dropzone from after Christmas. We have been running the group for nearly 7 years now and our hope is that we can hand over the running of the group to a new committee and a group of new volunteers. We would be willing to come along at times and also volunteer to support the group but know we cannot sustain our current level of involvement. We have had some help this term from a youth worker, Julia Fairbrother , who’s help and support has been invaluable. This help has only been funded up till Christmas.   There is a glimmer of hope that we could continue in the new year. Julia is willing to come until Easter and we could fund her from group funds. To enable this to happen though we will need volunteers to help at the sessions and volunteers to be on a committee to oversee and run the group. We also have 3 young people who help at the sessions who are very supportive and capable. We have had several offers of help and we now need to ascertain whether this will be sufficient to allow the group to continue. We have been liaising with a youth organisation called Momentum to enlist their support but they need to know that the group is well supported if they are going to consider giving us a grant to employ a youth worker or help us explore other grant opportunities. Dropzone is scheduled for the following dates in 2014:  Jan 17th, Feb 7th, March 7th and 21st, April 4th, May 2nd and 16th,June 6th and 20th, July 4th and 18th, Sept 5th and 19th, Oct 3rd and 17th,Nov 7th and 21st, Dec 5th and 19th( 19 sessions in total). The following roles need to be filled and therefore we would be grateful if you could indicate on the form below what you feel able to contribute towards the group. •Committee chairman – organise about 4 committee meetings each year •Group treasurer – manage funds and report to committee. Systems already in place for this •Committee secretary – attend committee meeting and take minutes •Committee member •Session volunteers to help supervise young people with activities and/or manage tuck. Please complete the form below to help us with planning for the future. Also the session on January 17th  at 7pm will now be a meeting to plan for the future of the group. Please ensure you attend this so that we can ascertain if the group can continue to run. Lee and I have met so many amazing young people while running the group and we would also like to take this opportunity to thank Nigel Crouch and the parents who have offered us help at the sessions over the last years. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas Cate & Lee Harper To download the volunteer form (either Word or PDF document) click here acheter phenq
